Kupuna Suppers
Long-time residents of our valley are honored every other year at
Malama o Manoa's biennial Na Kupuna Supper. The celebration dinner is
usually held at a major restaurant and honors Manoa Valley's kupuna -
those 65 years of age and older who have resided in Manoa for over 50
years. Look here to view the previous Kupuna Supper in 2004.
The 2006 Kupuna Supper will be held on Sunday March 12, from 5:00 to 7:30. The
event celebrates and honors all our special “long-time residents” who
have reached the age of 65 and have lived in Manoa Valley for 50 years
or more. It will be a fun-filled evening with good friends, great
food, fantastic music by the Eldredge family, and lots of fascinating
talk story led by Sylvia Alper.
As at past events, kupuna will
be our guests for the buffet supper. Cost for family, friends and
others who wish to attend is $25 per person, inclusive of gratuity and
general excise tax. If you know of any Manoa Valley kupuna you
would like to honor at this year’s supper, please give us their
name and telephone number. Transportation will be provided for
anyone who needs it. Call Jean Trapido-Rosenthal at 988-3062.
Also call if you would like to participate and volunteer some time
before or during the event.
